From the very first email to inquire about services to the end of our actual trip, I felt like I was in good hands. Eric is absolutely amazing from the quality of service to the astounding knowledge shared on local sites. He not only showed us the all the major sites that we were hoping to see but he also went out his way to saw us those interesting places which were off the tourist track and the great local food to taste. Not to mention that his equanimity & excellent driving skill that help us escaped from the aftershocks that happen at Benzilan town on 31st August 2013.

We really enjoy your accompany & we really appreciate your willingness to help out wherever there is a need. Thank you again for taking such good care of us and for showing us your beautiful country.

  2. Forget Lonely Planet’s “Top Choice”,go instead for Yunnan Taste

To anyone travelling to Kunming and looking for a great host and low-cost place to stay, forget Lonely Planet’s “Top Choice” with it’s rude staff and mozzie-infested rooms, go instead for Yunnan Taste. You might not find it in the guidebook, but you’d be sorely missing out if you passed up the opportunity to stay with Eric Feng at his hostel, which he runs from his spacious and beautifully-decorated flat.
Eric has local knowledge second-to-none, speak brilliant English and gives you one-to-one help that bigger hostels wouldn’t manage. You feel welcome and cared-for. What more can I say? Thank you Eric, you made our stay in China all the better for meeting you.

    • I think a home stay with few guests is better than a crowded youth hostel, because I am able to take care of all my guests.I am happy you are really enjoyed in my home stay, and here already be a home away from your home.Welcome back home.

  3. Would love to spend more time with him in Yunnan

Having searched Kunming in vain for a hotel/B&B with some kind of soul, I eventually stumbled across Yunnan Taste and Eric. From getting a reply to my first enquiry within about 10 minutes, to being met at the airport and provided with rose cakes, to dinner at a farm in the middle of nowhere that we’d never have found on our own….I am so glad to have persisted in trying to find a stay with a heart – which Yunnan Taste certainly delivers. Yes, the accommodation is simple – but scrupulously clean and tidy, breakfat was lovely and the night was extremely quiet – we hardly knew we were in a city. Eric took us hiking up West Hill, for dinner, to spend the day at the Stone Forest east of Kunming and when we returned to Kunming from Lijiang we visited the flower market. We all enjoyed his company and professionalism and would love to return in the future and spend more time with him in Yunnan.

    • It’s glad to guide Lucy’s family with two active girls to visit Kunming and surround.we had fun when hiking for have a top view of Dian Lake and Kunming at little stone forest,as well as played funny billiards in Mao Mao Qing village which was located on West Hill.I admire you and Christoff are able to try the strong local alcohol which more than 60%,and without drunk.I hope you already had a impressive memory of Kunming which people call her Spring City, when we visit the flower market in Dounan.I am expecting your next Yunnan Trip.

  5. Taste:”Yunnan Taste”

If you prefer a friendly atmosphere and advise on your travel plans I recommend you Yunnan Taste. I was travelling with 3 other friends and it was our first time in Yunnan region. We were nicely surpried with the home environment and friendly Eric, the owner, who is also guide and traveller and who is always ready to help you. The place is not crowded, you can expect max. 6- 7 other people who are also on a travelling wave. There is a wifi, hot shower, option of having home made breakfast, you can use the wasching machine..all what a traveller needs on the ways:)

Stayed May 2013, traveled with friends

  6. I had a fantastic short stay in Yunnan Taste in early April. My plane to Kunming was delayed for several hours, and Eric (the owner) spoke to the cab driver to make sure he knew where to go and then met me outside when I arrived. Everything was clean and comfortable, and Eric cooked an excellent breakfast. I highly recommend staying here.

    • Thank you for Fredman’s recommendation.Whatever I hope all my guests are able to have a good resting after a long flight or trip.I am glad to know that you have a good sleep in quiet and clean surroundings, also you like the breakfast.
